Disclosures
Not official
Sound Clam Status is an independent information site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the State of Connecticut, the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Aquaculture, or any town shellfish commission. Always confirm with the official hotline before harvesting. Not affiliated with the State of Connecticut or New York State.
How status is shown
We never show a plain “Open”. Your browser checks each official post against your device’s clock. If an official page posted an area open within the last 36 hours, and our feed refreshed within the last 24 hours, we show amber “Posted open [date], call to confirm”. A closed post inside the same window shows “Closed (posted [date])”. Everything else shows Call hotline: undated, unreadable, future-dated or older posts, conflicting info, and phone-only towns. Without JavaScript, every status shows Call hotline. Most towns publish status only by phone.
No warranty, no liability
All information is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a purpose. It may be out of date or wrong. Sound Clam Status and its operators accept no liability for any loss, illness, fine or other consequence arising from use of this site. The official hotline and current town and state rules govern.
Health
Beds can close at any time for red tide / biotoxins (PSP), Vibrio risk, sewage or other emergency and administrative closures.
Accuracy
Fees, limits and seasons were compiled from official sources in October 2026, and each links to its source. Where an official figure couldn’t be verified we say “call the Town Clerk” instead of guessing. Rules change; the town’s current regulations govern.
Sponsors & affiliates
Sponsor spots are clearly labeled. Sponsors never influence status. If affiliate links are added, they will be marked and disclosed here. There are no sponsors or affiliate links yet.
Health
Eating raw or undercooked shellfish carries risk, including Vibrio Source ↗.
